Delete Your Room Chat Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your Room Chat account (published by Xsphere) and exactly what happens to your data when you do.

How to request account deletion

Account deletion happens from inside the Room Chat app and is confirmed with an SMS code sent to your registered phone number, so no one else can delete your account on your behalf.

  1. 1

Open the app and go to Delete Account

Sign in to Room Chat, then go to your Profile / Settings and choose Delete Account.

  2. 2

    Request a confirmation code

Tap Send Code. We send a one-time confirmation code by SMS to the phone number on your account — no need to type your number in again, we already know it.

  3. 3

    Enter the code

Enter the code within 5 minutes of receiving it. It can only be used once.

  4. 4

    Confirm deletion

Tap Delete My Account to finish. This immediately signs you out of Room Chat on every device, and your account is deactivated right away.

Can't open the app anymore (lost your phone, uninstalled it, etc.)? Use the tool below to delete your account right from this page, or see Need help? to have us do it for you after verifying your identity.

Delete it right here

Don't have the app installed anymore? You can delete your account directly from this page. It's the same verified process as in-app — we'll text a code to confirm it's really you, twice.

Requires JavaScript. If it's disabled, use the in-app steps above instead.

What's deleted vs. what's kept

We want to be precise here rather than vague: deleting your account deactivates it immediately, but it does not erase every trace of your account from our systems the moment you tap Delete. Here's exactly what happens.

Removed immediately

  • You're signed out of Room Chat on every device, and every login session is revoked.
  • Your profile is hidden from other users — your account shows as "Deleted Account" to your contacts instead of your name/photo.
  • Your online/last-seen status is permanently hidden from everyone, even people you were previously visible to.
  • If you owned any group chats, ownership automatically transfers to the longest-standing remaining member — no group is left without an owner.

Retained temporarily, then auto-deleted

  • Your phone number, name, and other profile details remain stored in our database, associated with your (now-deactivated) account.
  • Messages you already sent remain visible in the conversations you sent them in — deleting your account does not delete or unsend your message history.
  • Photos, videos, and files you sent remain stored and reachable through those existing conversations.
  • Your group memberships are kept on record (except ownership, which transfers as noted above).
  • All of the above is automatically and permanently deleted 3 months after your account becomes inactive (from the point it's deleted/deactivated).

Retention period

Data listed under "Retained temporarily" above is kept for 3 months after your account becomes inactive, then automatically and permanently deleted from our systems. If you'd like it erased sooner than that, contact us using the details below and we'll process a manual erasure request after verifying it's really you.

Need help?

For deletion requests you can't complete in-app, or questions about your data, email us at support@xsphere.co. Please send this from the email or phone number associated with your account, or be ready to verify your identity another way — we won't act on an account-deletion request we can't verify.
